Richard Bain, the city’s mayor states: “I am very proud of our residents for commitment to this important program and congratulate them on their success in recycling.” Pepper Pike apparently doesn’t employ an automated program for scrap recycling; however, the blue bags are being put to use. “We have a conscious recycling community,” says Services Director Mr. Bob Girardi.

The importance of recycling scrap and other refuse cannot be understated. Driving through Pepper Pike on Wednesday, I noticed very few “eyesores” such as junk cars, scrap cars and old vehicle tires. At the other end of the recycling scrap spectrum in Cuyahoga County, the city of Cleveland’s rate was only 12% overall. The cities in Cuyahoga County with the worst rates for recycling are as follows:  Maple Heights (4.8%), Warrensville Heights (2.6%), East Cleveland (1.3%) and North Randall (.05%)
